Rebound Products Introduces its New Frame Savers protectors 2025
Rebound Products Introduced its first frame clip, in 2002. A custom-made plastic part was designed to be wedged into the V shaped trampoline frame anchor points. Many details were considered to develop a workable shape before making the mold.
Rebound Products is proud to be the only trampoline manufacturer in the world to provide such a product. In addition to significantly increasing the lifetime of a frame which often “dies” due to the anchor points wearing through, these parts make bouncing on the frame much quieter. On all but new frames steel on steel wear will cause squeaks.
Now Rebound Products has developed a completely new design for a frame protector. It is no longer V shaped and no longer relies on being wedged into place. So, we are no longer calling it a clip. This required a lot more work, and a new mold.
The plastic is much harder as the shape does not need as much movement during installation. This should mean a longer lifetime. As the part sits at the apex of the anchor point, but does not reach the frame, it can therefore be installed on many more products. This includes more types of trampolines. Power tracks and a variety of tumble tramps or trampolines with “wiggly wire”. They can now be used to work on any trampolines, mini-tramps and DMT frames which use anchor bars as opposed to holes for spring attachment.
Installation is done by snapping one end of the part over the anchor point to one side of the apex, pushing towards the frame. Then rotate the part 180 degrees and pulling the other end over the other side of the apex by pulling away from the frame. After that if spring installation is difficult, try moving the protector to one side to make more room for the spring hook.
We are hoping that this harder plastic part will work on partly worn frames. Although this is a bit like closing the barn door after the cows have left, nevertheless many clubs have such frames. If spring has worn more than halfway through the anchor point, we suggest it is time to fill those gaps with welded steel.
To install on a worn frame, we have found that usually there is either or both a steel flake or a burr at the edges of the grove worn in the anchor point. They should be smoothed out. Usually rubbing the inside of a spring hook around the edges of the grove is sufficient. Don’t worry about spring wear, the spring wire is much harder than the steel of the anchor point. After you have installed the first end of the frame protector from the outside, see if it can be rotated 180 degrees without excessive force. If you need excessive force, you may break the frame protector. After rotating the part, it may not easily move to the middle on the inside of the anchor part. This normally easy movement can be facilitated in this case using a flat screwdriver to lever the part to the middle. It should be fully assembled by snapping on the second side as usual.
