A lighter spring performs better as it reacts faster. This is intuitive. The benefits are less energy lost due to the inertia of the springs or the energy required to make them move, and less bed vibration.
A heavier spring last longer. This is also intuitive. It turns out that the length a spring can reach for each degree of damage is roughly proportional to the spring weight. The worst degree of damage is to stretch a spring so far that on just one cycle it has lost some tension. The lowest degree of damage is below a certain stretch the spring has an infinite life. Anything in between is the fatigue zone. After a certain number of cycles the springs will break apart. Before the last cycle the wire is actually cracked part way through. Then a higher bounce rips the spring apart. The highest stress point is at the hook, 90 degrees from the support point. All rebound springs use a variety of techniques to improve the fatigue lifetime of our springs. However unless you want a very heavy spring, or have only very light athletes, all trampoline springs will eventually fail. It turns out that the roughly 20% heavier springs that we champion result in about 7 times longer lifetime, due to each blow of any type being 20% less damaging.
Rebound has discovered an amazing breakthrough! THE RAPID SPRING. The trick is to have a short fat spring which keeps the spring weight closer to the frame. This reduces total spring movement.
Rebound’s goal is Relentless product evolution. This is the next step forward…
NOW YOU CAN HAVE YOUR CAKE AND EAT IT TOO…
When you jump on a Trampoline the springs move both move inward and rotate downward. When the centre of gravity of a spring is tracked there is actually more rotational motion than stretch motion, particularly during first contact and particularly for those springs further from the athlete. By shifting the centre of gravity of the springs towards the frame, the rotational movement is reduced. Hence our RAPID springs feel like lighter springs.
As these springs develop the required tension in less space, rope extenders are provided. This also protects the spring from direct hits. Acting light means a faster reacting trampoline.
To maximize this weight shift, the frame side of the spring has a very short hook, which also is easier to install.
Rebound Products remains a champion of heavier springs. We provide value.
Compared to conventional competition springs RAPID springs both last longer and respond quicker! Athletes jump higher on RAPID springs and there is less bed vibration. More power packed into a compact little package.
We now offer an array of Rapid springs. Corner, Super tramp, Trampoline, DMT and mini-tramp!
The DMT spring was our first. It creates the biggest improvement on a standard design, as DMT springs are so close to the athlete.
